NEEDS

Sogedim SpA operates in the field of integrated logistics and multimodal transport, with steadily growing volumes and increasing operational complexity driven by the management of domestic and international shipments.

Against this backdrop, Sogedim SpA handles more than 2.500 shipments per day, supported by a network of 130 local carriers for collection and delivery operations and a network of more than 90 groupage lines across Europe. Its service offering covers road, sea, air and rail transport, enabling the company to serve more than 10.000 customers worldwide and handle approximately 550.000 shipments every year.



In this context, the company needed tools capable of providing greater control, traceability and process integration.

The goal was also to support business growth and evolution by improving the management of data and information, turning them into strategic assets to support decision-making and future growth.

THE PROJECT

The implementation enabled the structured integration of warehouse management with transport planning, ensuring a seamless connection across all operational stages: from order receipt and warehouse operations management through to the planning and monitoring of multimodal shipments.



The WMS Replica enabled the optimization of warehouse flows, improving inventory control, the management of warehouse movements, and shipment preparation, while providing real-time visibility of operations. The TMS SIMA, on the other hand, strengthened transport management, improving trip planning and carrier coordination.

A key role is played by the integration of transport and logistics. The two logistics facilities in Mesero, covering a total area of over 90,000 m² and strategically located near the A4 motorway and Malpensa Airport, enable the efficient management of warehousing, distribution and value-added logistics activities. Sogedim also operates a dedicated temperature-controlled warehouse in Corbetta, with a storage capacity of 25,000 m², specifically designed for the handling and storage of temperature-sensitive goods.

The integration between the two systems represents the key value of the project, enabling the seamless exchange of data between warehousing and transportation, reducing manual activities and providing a single, up-to-date view of the entire supply chain.

The Zucchetti solutions, in addition to optimizing and streamlining operational processes, have enabled the company to work from a single integrated database, ensuring greater consistency and reliability of information and allowing it to provide customers with accurate and timely responses across different operational areas.

The use of these systems has also enabled the rapid extraction of data for both macro- and micro-level analysis, allowing for continuous monitoring of operations and a high degree of autonomy in managing day-to-day activities.
The decision to implement the WMS Replica stems from the need for a scalable solution capable of supporting the company’s growth and the ongoing transformation of the logistics sector.
In recent years, the increase in the number of customers, together with increasingly specific operational and information requirements, has led to greater process complexity and increased pressure on efficiency and control.
In this context, a traditional warehouse management system is no longer sufficient.

We needed to find a solution capable of supporting our operational requirements, which is why we chose WMS Replica and TMS SIMA.
